MOIRA FERRIER was born in Glen Lethnot, Angus. She is a graduate of Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen, where she studied Drawing and Painting from 1959-1961. Her tutors included Ian Fleming, David Michie, Henderson Blyth and Joan Eardley.

She taught for number of years in Aberdeenshire, then moved to Edinburgh.  She lived on the island of Mull for a number of years but is now based in Edinburgh.

Moira finds endless variety in Scottish landscape in all seasons, in ever changing moods.  She also has an affinity with flowers and has the ability to convey their essence in paint.  Unusually, she is equally proficient in oils, acrylics, watercolours and pastels.

In 1979 she was elected a member of the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours and her paintings are always a highlight of their annual exhibitions in Edinburgh. Moira exhibits widely and has work in many collections.
