Val Thomson

Val Thomson

VAL THOMSON spent her childhood in Fraserburgh and now lives in Aberdeen. Although she had a passion for painting and drawing from a young age, she initially followed a business career path and attended part time art classes and workshops when time permitted.

Three years ago she decided to take up painting full time and now exhibits regularly as well as working on commissions.

Her paintings reflect her connection with Scotland, and inspiration comes from its coastline, landscape, weather and seasons.

I am drawn to the shapes and colours that surround us, from bright gable ends of fisher cottages to the patterns created by trees on a hilltop. I enjoy making marks and building texture and hope to capture the character of the North East in my paintings.
