Neil Macdonald

In my painting, I aim to engender a mood and poetry of place. I do this through a quality of light, distortion of perspective and scale underlined by sound academic drawing.

The old harbours and villages of the Scottish coast attract me with their strong bold shape and lyrical narrative.

The broken and layered application of paint reflects my interest in the textural and unifying properties of the divisionist tradition.
