ALEXANDER R.ROBB was born in Kirkwall, Orkney in 1950. He studied at Glasgow School of Art from 1968-1972 then taught art in Stirling from 1974-1978. In 1978 he moved to Dumfriesshire where he still lives. He continued to paint while teaching art then took early retirement in 2007 in order to concentrate more fully on painting.
He is a regular exhibitor at the Royal Scottish Academy (R.S.A.), Royal Glasgow Institute (R.G.I.), Visual Arts Scotland (V.A.S.), (Professional member of V.A.S. since 1994), and Paisley Art Institute (P.A.I.) (Professional member of P.A.I. since 2003).
He has also exhibited at the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours (R.S.W.), the Society of Scottish Artists (S.S.A.), the Morrison Portrait Competition, the Laing Landscape Competition, the Paisley Drawing Competition and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters in the Mall Galleries London.
He has held many solo exhibitions and has exhibited widely throughout the UK.
