Danny and Joan Ross opened the award-winning gallery in rural Aberdeenshire in 1987. They celebrate and promote Scottish art, showing the best emerging artists as well as established modern masters. Several hundred artists are represented by the gallery. All are carefully selected by Danny and Joan, who are always on hand and happy to discuss the work of any artist.
We are delighted to be coming out of lockdown with a superb exhibition by John Lowrie Morrison OBE. Our doors are open again and we look forward to welcoming you into the gallery.
Jolomo, as he is known, first exhibited with us in 1998, his maiden show in the north-east of Scotland. He was little known at the time, but it was clear even then that there was something special about his work, that it made a strong connection with people. He is a hugely energetic painter celebrating the Scottish landscape, never tiring of expressing its beauty.
He has been exploring new directions during lockdown, especially his love of stormy weather. The exhibition is full of fiery skies and stormy seas. We are so pleased to be able to share it.
