January to March 2012

Regular Art Classes, organised by Tolquhon Gallery, are held at Tolquhon Studio Workshop in Udny Green, a picturesque conservation village, 12 miles north of Aberdeen.  The former Fleeman’s Shop on the village green has been transformed into an attractive, well equipped studio.

The Tolquhon Workshops now include Creative Writing Workshops, led by the Press & Journal Arts Critic and columnist Roddy Phillips.

The first collection of Roddy’s P&J column ‘The Familiar’ was published by Black & White in July 2009 and you can find out more about him at his website – roddyphillips.com

The workshop courses take a student-centred approach to creative writing, offering a range of strategies to help you develop as a writer.  The courses are held in the Udny Green workshop and are suitable for aspiring writers and for anyone with a strong interest in reading and writing, who would like to deepen their understanding of the creative process.

A wide range of genres are covered, including: fiction, poetry, drama, journalism and life writing. Participants are encouraged to produce work each week and they receive appropriate and constructive feedback.

There are two Creative Writing classes, one on Tuesday afternoons and one on Thursday evenings. Each runs for 10 weeks.  The afternoon classes will begin on Tuesday 17 January and run until Tuesday 20 March from 2.15 pm to 4.15 pm.  The evening classes will begin on Thursday 19 January and run until Thursday 22 March from 7.15 pm to 9.15 pm.

The fee for either class is £118.
