Art Classes WINTER/SPRING 2012

   January to March

      There are 10 classes in each course.

Courses will commence in the week beginning Saturday 14 January and end in the 
week beginning Saturday 17 March.

 Two-hour classes cost £118.  All other classes cost £142.

A relaxing and informal class for beginners and improvers wishing to develop their drawing and painting skills. Instruction will be provided on a range of subjects including technique, materials, colour mixing and composition. There will be a variety of themes and subject matter to work from each week and class members may use the water based media of their choice.

A friendly class suitable for beginners and improvers. Through a variety of studies, painting varied subject matter, different aspects of technique, composition, colour mixing, perspective etc will be covered. The course will be taken in water based media with class members using whatever they prefer - watercolour, acrylic or gouache.

Part II
Morning

Taking a student-centred approach, the course will offer a range of strategies to help you develop as a writer. Suitable for aspiring writers and for anyone with a strong interest in reading and writing, who would like to have a deeper understanding of the creative process. A wide range of genres will be covered, including: fiction, poetry, drama, journalism and life writing. Participants will be encouraged to produce work each week and they will receive appropriate and constructive feedback.

 Tutor: RODDY PHILLIPS
A class for all levels. Learn how to begin painting in oils or how to develop techniques. Sound working practices will be established and use of materials taught through a variety of studies from Still Life to Landscape. Composition, proportion, colour mixing etc will all be covered and the mysteries of this enjoyable medium unfolded.

Tutor: CATRIONA MILLAR

 

A class for participants who wish to advance their knowledge and creative skills attained in Pixel to Print - Part 1. Also suitable for experienced photographers who wish to develop their skills further.  The course will include a minimum of three outdoor photo shoots (weather permitting).  Access to a laptop with photo editing software is essential for the sessions based at ‘Art on the Green’ Studio.

Part I

A class suitable for first time digital SLR users and others who want to learn the creative side of photography in a friendly and relaxed environment. The course will take the participant on a photographic journey, from getting to know their camera, to editing their images and producing an A3 print of their work. Two outdoor photo shoots (weather permitting) will be included later in the course so participants should come prepared.

This class is suitable for beginners. Students will learn skills in pattern cutting, pattern design and garment construction. The class allows students to learn the essential skills of pattern cutting such as how to measure, apply and follow instructions to create individual patterns for individual sizes. Each student will be given the opportunity to design a garment of their choice and they will learn how to adapt their basic patterns to create unique designs. Students of all abilities are welcome. A friendly class that will teach the individual relevant skills in pattern cutting/construction and sewing. (Own sewing machine preferable as there is a limited number available).
