OUR LATEST exhibition is 'Sea and Shore', a feast of paintings for anyone who loves all things related to the sea and the coastline surrounding us. We are inland, so visitors are surprised when they can see the sea from the gallery grounds. Newburgh is our nearest beach, around 10 miles away, but when it is clear, we can see a strip of the North Sea on the horizon as we look east from the garden. On occasion, we can even see the ferry heading for the Northern Isles of Orkney and Shetland, the MV Hjaltland or MV Hrossey. Nowhere in Scotland is very far from the sea, it is in our blood.
Many artists are best known for their seascapes, including Sarah Carrington, Gillian Goodheir and Marion Thomson.
Others may be better known for landscapes or still life or abstract work but the sea exerts its influence on them. D.E.Johnston, Jackie Gardiner and Patricia Sadler have produced powerful paintings for this exhibition.
Sea and Shore continues until Tuesday 20 June.
