WENDY HOUSTON was born and brought up in Dumbarton. On leaving school, she followed a career  in the NHS in Glasgow. Having had an interest in drawing and painting from a very young age, she took the opportunity while she worked in the city to attend evening classes at Glasgow School of Art. She was encouraged by her tutors to prepare a portfolio and apply for entry to art school and was surprised and delighted to be accepted as a full time student in 1985. She graduated in 1989 and has developed her painting ever since. In 1996 she moved to Kinross-shire and she has been greatly inspired by the local landscape. Walking the dogs is a routine part of her day and, increasingly, they have crept into her paintings. Her sister’s two labradors, Rolo and Buster, have proved to be excellent models.
