TIM COCKBURN is a painter and printmaker who lives and works in the historic Fife harbour town of Pittenweem. Born in Sheffield in 1955, he moved to Edinburgh in 1974 to study at Edinburgh College of Art and he has lived in Scotland ever since. On graduation, he gained an award from the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation, which enabled him to paint in Tuscany and Umbria and he later travelled to South India and Sri Lanka. He worked at the famous Edinburgh Printmakers Workshop for a number of years but now paints full time. His paintings are wonderfully detailed and lively, populated by a large cast of people performing the many rituals of contemporary Scottish life. He is particularly well known for his depictions of Scottish Country dance, which display a warm observant humour. Tim has held many one-man exhibitions throughout the country and he has work in public and private collections worldwide. He first exhibited at Tolquhon in 2009 when his work quickly sold out. We are delighted to host his first solo show at Tolquhon.
