JAMES ORR was born in Glasgow and now lives in Ayrshire. He has always been interested in painting and studied part time at Glasgow School of Art. He now paints full time and exhibits widely. Bold colour and confident brush strokes mark his work. His strongly delineated, crisp, clear imagery is very distinctive whether he is painting landscape, beach scenes or still life. James Orr’s paintings relate to daily life. A still life may show a table set for tea, a beach scene may show children playing among rocks or a yacht sailing by. He paints in acrylics which ideally suit his style, allowing for bold colour and fluid brushwork. His paintings are held in a number of collections, notably the personal collection of HRH The Duke of Edinburgh. He is a regular exhibitor in a number of London galleries where the colour and vigour of his work are seen to mark him out as a distinctively Scottish artist.
