JAMES
ORR was born in Glasgow and
now lives in Ayrshire.
He studied part-time at Glasgow School of Art under John Boyd RGI
and has painted full time for many years, developing a distinctive
style. Working
in acrylics, his landscapes have a fluency and immediacy that mark them
out. He
uses bold colour with a vigour that informs many of the best Glasgow
artists. He
exhibits regularly at the Royal Scottish Academy, the Royal Glasgow
Institute, the Royal Scottish Society of Painters in Watercolours and
the Paisley Art Institute.
He exhibits widely within the UK and has also had exhibitions at
the Forbes Gallery - New York, Art Expo - New York, the Hilton Hotel -
Hong Kong and the Galerie Centrale - Brussels.
His work is held in many collections including those of HRH Duke
of Edinburgh, Lord and Lady McFarlane, Touche Ross Ltd and Kyle and
Carrick Council.
He received the Royal College of Physicians Award at the RGI in
1997. A regular exhibitor at Tolquhon, there is always life, joy and
colour in his work.
