GILLIAN
GOODHEIR is one of the most sought after artists at Tolquhon: this
is her seventh one woman show at the gallery. Gillian was born in
Glasgow in 1945 and studied at Glasgow School of Art, gaining a Diploma
in Drawing and Painting in 1967 and a Post Diploma (Highly Commended) in
1968. Following graduation, Gillian taught art in Glasgow for six
years. Then, in 1975, she and her husband moved to mid-Argyll and
she has lived and worked there ever since. Her paintings reflect
the ever-changing weather and light in the west of Scotland. By
contrast, she spends time, when she can, painting in the south of
France. She also excels in Still Life, combining flowers, textiles
and decorative objects. Her preferred medium is gouache which she
handles in a fluid spontaneous style, capturing light and colour.
In the early 1980s Gillian began painting full time and exhibiting
widely. Her work is now in collections throughout the U.K.
(including the Permanent Collection of the Palace of Westminster) as
well as in the U.S.A., Canada, Hong-Kong, Holland, France and New
Zealand.
