DONALD MURRAY is no stranger to Tolquhon but this exhibition is a new departure for him. While maintaining the familiar landscape themes which have proved so popular in previous shows, he presents them in small-scale format. The feeling for time, place and atmosphere which has become his hallmark is supported by a sureness and delicacy of touch, totally in keeping with his chosen scale. He also shows, for the first time, a series of linocut prints. Simple, direct and decorative, they show the same keen observation which is evident in the watercolours. And, in editions of between ten and fifteen, they are eminently collectable. Donald was, for many years, Head of Art at Robert Gordon's College and is now a popular tutor at the gallery's Udny Green studio workshop.
