| CHRIS
FORSEY exhibited at Tolquhon for the first time in our 2007
Christmas Exhibition when his paintings immediately attracted red
dots. He is based in the south of England and is known best for
his paintings of the south west of the country but he has brought a
fresh eye to the coast of north east Scotland. He works in
water-based media, reappraising his style and technique on a regular
basis, and he enjoys a mixed-media approach combining acrylic,
watercolour, gouache, pastel and ink. He is interested in surface
texture and creates layers of glazed or dry brushed colour applied with
tools ranging from rag to roller, sponge to fingernail. Chris
has been painting and exhibiting his work in Britain and Europe
for twenty years. He is a regular exhibitor with the RWS and RI in
London, gaining awards from the latter in 2006 and in 2007.
"Working mainly on landscape subjects, I explore the themes of the man-made alongside the organic: buildings by water, structure emerging from a rocky cliff - sometimes adding a figure to bring a human touch or add a sense of scale to the scene. In all cases I try to capture the essence of a location at a specific moment, season or hour of the day and the inspiring and changing light caused by different weather conditions, always endeavouring to bring passion and immediacy to my work". We are delighted to have the opportunity to host a one man show by such a talented and highly skilled artist.
