VICKI HOPKINSON came to prominence when she was awarded the David Cargill prize by the Royal Glasgow Institute in 1998. Since then, she has exhibited widely to much acclaim. She was educated at Lomond School, Helensburgh, then studied at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating with Honours in Painting in 1991. She now lives in Colorado, USA, but continues to exhibit most of her work in Scotland.

Vicki's main interest is in animals, particularly domestic and farm animals and she captures their varying personalities in her work. She has developed a distinctive style, using mixed media, often incorporating gold leaf, tissue and calligraphy. Varying from subtle hues to vibrant, intense splashes of colour her paintings always show freshness and spontaneity.

Much of Vicki’s work is done to commission and her paintings are found in private collections throughout the world. Vicki is a regular exhibitor at Tolquhon and has had two one woman shows at the gallery.
