ROWENA LAING was born in Arbroath and studied at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee. She first worked as a graphic designer in London and in publishing in Scotland before setting up a design practice with her husband in Glasgow. She now paints full time and finds much of her inspiration in the time she spends with her horses in the Stirlingshire countryside. Subjects also come from Scotland's east coast where she grew up. More exotic references are drawn from the Caribbean and from Italy, especially Florence where she lived as a student. She paints in oils and strong colour and composition marks her work. She exhibits widely and her work is in collections in London, Denmark, Canada, USA, Australia , Germany and Spain.
