RON EARDLEY studied at Glasgow School of Art, gaining a Diploma of Art then a post graduate diploma. On leaving art school, he joined Scottish Television as a graphic designer. He went on to become head of graphics. While employed as a designer, he continued to work independently and has undertaken many commissions for clients in the UK and abroad as an artist and book illustrator. He now paints full time. His chosen media are watercolour and gouache and his preferred subjects are urban landscapes with a strong architectural content. He travels a lot and the inspiration gained from foreign travel is reflected in many of his paintings especially those of the streets and waterways of Venice which he visits frequently.
