Martin Oates

Martin Oates was born in Glasgow in 1952.  Largely self taught, he paints mainly in watercolours, inspired by the varied landscapes and seascapes of Scotland and the Mediterranean. His paintings depict an enhanced perception of the environment enriched by his strong sense of colour in the landscape. He travels widely and spends his time between two studios, one in Glasgow and one in southern Spain where he finds the light in harmony with his work. His paintings are shown in galleries throughout Scotland and overseas.
