KEITH MacHATTIE studied Architecture at the Scott Sutherland School in Aberdeen then developed his career as an architect with the Scottish Agricultural College at Craibstone, specialising in the design of agricultural buildings. Choosing to work in a rural environment, he has always been attuned to the surrounding landscape. He has had a lifelong interest in painting and since retiring, he has had more time to develop this interest. Keith lives in the shadow of Bennachie, Aberdeenshire, and finds most of his subject matter near at hand, but he is also inspired by the New Zealand landscape. Keith’s daughter lives in the country and he has made a number of extended visits there. He has been entranced by the variety and beauty of the country. Watercolour is Keith’s preferred medium; he uses washes with great skill and subtlety, creating wonderfully atmospheric, gentle and appealing paintings. He is particularly skilled at conveying the effects of different weather through the different seasons. To see further images, click Search or to check on availability of work click Contact Us.
