Kate Philp

KATE PHILP was born in East Africa and brought up in Scotland, where she now lives.  She paints mostly in acrylic and watercolour and her subject matter is varied including landscape, interiors, still life and animals.  When using watercolour, she keeps her paint pure and transparent, applying it in rapid, fluid washes and retaining the sparkle of the white paper beneath. Acrylics, on the other hand, provide her with a stronger palette and the opportunity to make good use of texture. Excellent use of colour and a lively and spontaneous style have made her paintings deservedly popular.  She exhibits in Edinburgh, the Borders, Berwickshire and London. Her work has also been published by the Prime Arts Gallery in Bath, which sponsored her on a painting trip to Australia and New Zealand.
