JOHN LOWRIE MORRISON (Jolomo) studied Drawing and Painting at Glasgow School of Art, graduating Post Diploma in 1972. He paints the Scottish west coast, particularly Argyll and the Hebrides. Painting in oils, he uses high key colour and expressionist brushwork to capture his unique vision of Scotland. His paintings range from light, airy beach scenes of Iona to intimate moody paintings of Knapdale, where he lives.

Having taught for many years, John became a full time artist in 1996 and has become one of the most successful painters in the UK.  Having gained huge popularity at home, he has gone on to woo the international market, holding sell-out exhibitions as far afield as Hong Kong, Canada and the USA; his oil paintings can be found in many prestigious private and corporate collections around the world.

John says "I try to paint beautiful paintings as I hold closely to Monet's statement that beauty has a healing power ....in a sometimes depressing world I want to create a feeling of joy and happiness with bright colour and vibrant style !"
