GILLIAN GOODHEIR has become one of the most sought after artists at Tolquhon and has regular one woman shows at the gallery. She was born in Glasgow and went to Glasgow School of Art where she gained a Diploma in Drawing and Painting in 1967 and a Post Diploma (Highly Commended) in 1968. She taught art in Glasgow for a number of years before moving to a small croft in mid Argyll where she has lived for more than twenty years, continuing to paint and exhibit regularly over that time. She also spends time whenever possible in the South of France. Gillian is inspired by the landscapes and seascapes around her, whether in Scotland or in France. She also excels at painting her more immediate environment, wherever she may be. Hens may peck about in a painting or flowers tumble from a garden planter. Some fresh sardines on a plate make as attractive a subject as a jug of Spring flowers. She paints mainly in gouache. Her work is full of life and colour, expressed in a wonderful loose style which is never overworked. To see further images, click Search or to check on availability of work click Contact Us.
