Edward J.Findlay

EDWARD J. FINDLAY was born in Dundee in 1955.  He attended Harris Academy from 1968 to 1974 and studied Drawing and Painting at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art, Dundee, from 1974-78.  Then followed teacher training at Dundee College of Education from 1978-79.

He is now based in Montrose and was elected a Professional Member of Aberdeen Artists Society in 1991.

He has exhibited widely and has work in private collections at home and abroad.

He writes, "My current work is inspired by my immediate environment and is centred on close observation of the effects of the elements. It has evolved out of a reaction to the ageing and decaying process on the local natural and man-made environment.  My work attempts to focus attention on the intrinsic beauty of the rich colours and varied textural qualities produced during the process of deterioration."
