DONALD M.PATERSON grew up on Skye, attending Portree High School from 1963 to 1969. He then studied at Glasgow School of Art, before becoming a teacher of art, a career he has pursued ever since, while continuing to paint and to exhibit widely. He was elected RSW in 1986. The main source of my work is derived from a strong affinity for my roots in North West Scotland, specifically in the Skye area, although it is the product of a combination of direct experiences, observations, memories, photographic recordings, sketches etc. Each drawing, painting or construction becomes concerned with achieving a personally coherent and meaningful balance and departing by varying degrees from the original stimulus. Regular visits to France also provide stimulus. To see further images, click Search or to check on availability of work click Contact Us.
