Bob Batchelor was born and brought up in Georgetown, Guyana. He came to Scotland in 1946, aged 18, to study Drawing and Painting at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen, and apart from a brief return to Georgetown, he has lived in North East Scotland ever since. Until retiring in 1986, he was a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher, working as principal teacher of art at Harlaw Academy from 1966 to 1986. Flowers form Bob's subject matter. He is a passionate gardener and his love of the form and colour of flowers shines through his work. He has produced many screenprints since his first days as a founder member of Peacock Printmakers in Aberdeen. He now works mainly in watercolours. "In Bob's work the effects of a tropical childhood burst through the cold muted colours of a temperate northern climate" writes Gordon Smith. He has work in many public and private collections and has taken part in exhibitions throughout Britain. To see further images, click Search or to check on availability of work click Contact Us.
