ALISTAIR J.MALCOLM was born in Glasgow. He studied at Gray's School of Art, Aberdeen from 1968 to 1972, gaining a Diploma in Drawing in Paining. He then completed a Post Diploma (High Commend). In 1973 he was awarded 1st prize in the Scottish Young Contemporaries. In 1974 he was awarded a travelling scholarship which took him France, Belgium and Holland. In 1982 he was awarded a Scottish Arts Council bursary. He has worked full time as an artist since graduating from art school. He exhibits widely throughout the UK and is a regular exhibitor at the annual Royal Scottish Academy exhibitions. He has work in collections in Holland, France, Germany, Canada, USA, Australia, New Zealand and Uganda. He is best known for his meticulous Still Life but he also has an interest in surrealism.
