ALAN S.WATSON was born in Glasgow in 1947. He was brought up in Fife and studied in the School of Sculpture at Edinburgh College of Art, graduating in 1972.

Since 1976, he has been living and working in Orkney and the land and seascapes of the islands have become his main subject matter. The fleeting light and atmosphere, the extremes of climate, and the more dramatic aspects of the landscape are what interest him.

He works in charcoal, conte, watercolour and oils.

He exhibits in Scotland and Norway and has work in private collections throughout Britain, Europe, Scandinavia, the USA, Australia and New Zealand.
