| Silvana McLean was born in Motherwell and
studied at Glasgow School of Art.
Although based in Dumfriesshire, an enduring interest in the island life and archaeology of Scotland and Ireland has led to involvement in the Great Book of Gaelic project - a cross cultural collaboration between the two countries. She has recently undertaken a three- month Artist's Residency in Shetland. This has led to development of her work where an already textured picture surface is built up using gesso and glazes - the layering of materials evoking the layers of the past. Printmaking (etching) is a current passion and again the textural surface of the etched image has strong appeal. Each discipline enhances and influences the other. Silvana shows regularly at Tolquhon and exhibits in galleries throughout the U.K. To see further images, click Search or to check on availability of work click Contact Us. |
