PATRICIA
SADLER was born and brought
up in Selkirk and she has lived in Berwickshire for nearly thirty years,
so the Scottish borders is very much her home.
It is there she finds most of her inspiration, from the
landscape, the light and the changing seasons.
She loves to explore the countryside but her paintings are done
at home in her studio from an accumulation and absorption of memories,
moods and colours. Her approach to painting is intuitive and the
outcomes unpremeditated.
She works mainly in acrylics, building up complex layers of
washes and textures to show pools of sunlight and patterns of fields on
the rolling Border hills.
She is also fortunate to live close to the spectacular
Berwickshire and Northumberland coastline and she spends many hours
walking by the shore. In her seascapes she tries to convey the ever
changing moods, the movement of the waves and the colours of the sea
ranging from the vibrant to the restrained in the sometimes calm,
sometimes turbulent water.
In complete contrast, her garden provides further subject matter,
as she captures the exuberance yet also the delicacy of flowers.
Patricia was educated at
Selkirk High School and Edinburgh College of Art and has taken part in major
exhibitions including those of the RSW (Royal Scottish Society of
Painters in Watercolours), SSWA (Scottish Society of Women Artists) and
SSAC (Society of Scottish Artists and Craftsmen). To see further images, click Search or to check on availability of work click Contact Us.
