ALAN HAYMAN has a large studio overlooking the Sound of Mull. He spends his time exploring on his boat and painting this spectacular part of Scotland. Alan was born in Montrose in 1947. When most of his peers were still playing with toys, he was studying and drawing the bird life of Montrose Basin. He has had no formal training but has developed his work through his own study of landscape and wildlife, all the while honing remarkable painting skills. Painting is his life and he believes he was born to paint, even teaching himself taxidermy to achieve a better understanding of the anatomy of birds and animals. Before moving to the West Coast, in 2008, Alan lived in Glenlyon, Perthshire, for 20 years, painting his magnificent surroundings. We are delighted to be hosting the first solo exhibition for 5 years of this highly collectable artist.
